1. Requirements
- MetaTrader 5 desktop terminal for Windows, with any broker.
- A hedging or netting account. Start with a demo account.
- For sending and managing orders: Algo Trading enabled in the terminal toolbar.
2. Install
- Open the Market tab in MetaTrader 5 and search for SizePlan.
- Buy or download it. MetaTrader installs it for you.
- It appears in the Navigator under Expert Advisors > Market. If you do not see it, right-click the Navigator and choose Refresh.
SizePlan is not listed yet. This page describes the steps as they will be at launch.
3. Attach to a chart
- Open a chart of the symbol you want to trade.
- Drag SizePlan from the Navigator onto the chart.
- On the Common tab, tick Allow Algo Trading.
- On the Inputs tab, set
EnableTradingtotrueif you want to send orders. With the defaultfalse, SizePlan only plans: the panel works fully, but no order can be sent. - Click OK. The panel appears on the left of the chart.
The panel can be moved by dragging it. The gear opens the display settings (panel scale and saved setups), the pin fixes the panel in place and X folds it without stopping SizePlan.
4. Plan a trade
- Click BUY / LONG or SELL / SHORT. A plan appears at the current price: the green zone is the reward, the red zone the risk.
- Drag the SL or TP label to move that level. Drag the middle of the plan to move all levels together. Drag the right edge to make the box wider.
- Or type exact prices into the ENTRY, STOP LOSS and TAKE PROFIT fields; the small arrows move a price by one tick.
Useful switches:
- RR LOCKED / RR FREE - with the lock on, moving the stop moves the target so the reward/risk ratio stays the same.
- Click the STOP LOSS or TAKE PROFIT label to lock that price; a padlock on the chart shows the lock and clicking it unlocks.
- MARKET PRICE anchors the plan at the live price and keeps it following the market until you move or edit the plan.
- + TP adds a target (up to five). Each earlier target closes the share you set; the last one is the order's take profit.
The entry type is chosen for you: a plan following the market is sent as a market order; a plan with a fixed entry becomes a limit or stop order, depending on which side of the price it is.
5. Choose your risk
| Mode | What you enter | How the lot is found |
|---|---|---|
| %EQ | Percent of equity | Budget = equity x percent, divided by the loss per lot at SL |
| %BAL | Percent of balance | Same, from the balance |
| CASH | An amount in account currency | Budget = that amount |
| LOT | A fixed volume | Your volume; the panel shows the resulting risk |
Use the - / + buttons or the mouse wheel over the field, or click the field and type. The lot is always rounded down to the symbol's lot step, so the loss at SL stays within your budget. The SL and TP rows show the distance in points and the amount in your account currency.
Risk figures are estimates from your broker's symbol data. Gaps, slippage, commissions and swaps can make the real result differ. Enter your commission per lot in the RoundTurnCommissionPerLot input to include it.
6. Send the order
- With
EnableTrading=true, the button of the active side shows what will be sent, for example BUY LIMIT 0.50: the order type (MARKET, LIMIT or STOP) and the volume. - Check the plan on the chart, then click that button once. The order is sent at once, with the SL and TP from the plan. There is no separate confirmation step.
- Clicking the button of the other side only switches the plan to that side; it sends nothing.
A market order is sent with a slippage allowance of MaxConfirmDriftPercent (default 10% of the stop distance). If the outcome of a request is unknown, for example after a disconnect, SizePlan checks the terminal before it sends anything else.
7. Manage the trade
Click OPEN POSITIONS or PENDING ORDERS to open the Trade Manager. It lists every position and pending order in the account, whoever opened it; switch between THIS SYMBOL and ALL SYMBOLS at the top.
- Select a row. Its SL and TP (and entry, for a pending order) are editable right away, with -/+ steppers, the distance in points and the amount at that level. REVIEW & APPLY sends the change; REVERT reloads the live values.
- BE moves the stop to the open price; BE+ to the open price plus your offset in points.
- % CLOSE closes the percentage in the field next to it; CLOSE ALL closes the position; CANCEL ORDER deletes a pending order.
- HISTORY shows closed deals for the last 7, 30 or 90 days.
8. Break-even and trailing
Automation is off by default and is set per position (or per pending order, applied once it fills). In the Trade Manager, click the Auto BE or Trailing row of the selected trade:
- Breakeven: trigger distance in points or in R (multiples of the initial stop distance), plain BE or BE+ with an offset.
- Trailing stop: fixed distance, step distance, previous candle, swing pivot or ATR, with a start trigger and the timeframe used for candles, swings and ATR.
Click APPLY TO POSITION. Automation runs while SizePlan is attached to a chart in this terminal with EnableTrading=true and Algo Trading on. The automated stop only moves in your favour. If you change the stop or the volume yourself, trailing pauses and tells you why instead of overriding you.
For your next trades, set the defaults with the BREAKEVEN and TRAILING tiles in the planning panel.
9. Inputs reference

RoundTurnCommissionPerLot | 0 | Your commission per lot, included in the risk. |
SafeMode / OneClick | true / false | Trade Manager actions (SL/TP changes, break-even, partial or full close, cancel) show a review card first. They apply at once only with SafeMode=false and OneClick=true. New entries are always one click. |

UseAutoDPI / ManualUIScale | true / 100 | Panel size on high-DPI screens; the scale can also be changed in the settings. |
10. If something does not work
- The status line says "Planning only: set EnableTrading=true in EA inputs to trade." - open the EA properties (F7 on the chart) and set
EnableTrading=true. - "Algo trading is disabled in the terminal" - press Algo Trading in the toolbar and tick Allow Algo Trading in the EA properties.
- "PLAN OFF CHART" - the saved plan is outside the visible prices; press MARKET PRICE to bring it back.
- "Risk budget is below the minimum volume" - the smallest lot the broker allows would risk more than your budget. Widen the budget or tighten the stop; SizePlan never rounds the lot up.
- The broker rejected the order - the status line shows the broker's reason (for example stops too close or market closed). Adjust and try again; a rejected request is never resent automatically.
